Bluecherry is a popular and versatile video surveillance software that is widely used for various security applications. One of its key strengths is its compatibility with a wide range of IP cameras. However, it's important to note that not all cameras are compatible with Bluecherry, and there are some manufacturers whose cameras are not supported due to proprietary streaming methods. In this article, we'll explore Bluecherry's camera compatibility and provide insights into which cameras are supported and which are not.

Camera Compatibility:

Bluecherry has a great compatibility with a vast array of IP cameras, particularly those that support ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) and/or RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol). ONVIF is an open standard for IP-based security products, ensuring interoperability between different manufacturers' devices. RTSP is a common protocol for streaming audio and video over IP networks. Cameras that support these standards are typically a good fit for Bluecherry.

However, it's essential to be aware of a specific limitation: cameras that rely on battery or solar power and are not consistently connected to a power source may not function with Bluecherry. This is because most of these cameras do not support RTSP, which is a requirement for integration with Bluecherry. If you are unsure whether your camera is compatible, don't hesitate to reach out to the Bluecherry team for assistance. We are more than willing to help you verify the support for your camera model.

Manufacturers Not Supported:

  • Eufy: Eufy, known for its smart home security products, relies on its proprietary streaming methods, making it incompatible with Bluecherry.

  • Ring: Ring, a popular manufacturer of video doorbells and security cameras, also uses its closed-source streaming technology, making its cameras incompatible with Bluecherry.

  • Nest: Nest, a subsidiary of Google, employs its own proprietary streaming methods, which means Nest cameras are not supported by Bluecherry.

  • Simply Safe: Simply Safe, another well-known name in home security, falls into the category of manufacturers whose cameras do not align with Bluecherry's compatibility criteria.
